Between stone and vineyards
Former fortified villages still tower over the banks of the Rhône River: Cruas and its Abbey Church; the medieval city of Rochemaure; Viviers; Saint Martin d'Ardèche standing where the Ardèche and Rhône Rivers converge. The Ardèche "vin des coteaux" vineyards ramble through the Roman remains of Alba la Romaine; those of "Côtes du Vivarais" extend to Saint Montan , while the stony soils of Bourg Saint Andéol offer the first taste of the "Côtes de Rhône".
