Mont Gerbier de Jonc The river Loire has chosen the foot of this astonishing Natural Belvedere (1551m) for its cradle .
Climbing up the Mount is easy and offers breathtaking and unforgettable views of the Alps, Boutières, the Rhône Valley and Cevennes.

The Gorges d'Ardèche
Winding its way from the Mountain, fast-running, the river has carved the limestone valley into deep and steep Gorges and has sculpted one of France's most beautiful canyons. The Pont du Diable (Devil's bridge) From the look-out of the Giant's Causeway, you enjoy a breathtaking view over the Devil's Bridge. Access to the bridge via a steep, marked trail. |

Cascade du Ray-Pic
Geological curiosity, the Ray Pic Cascade was born from a volcano that only prehistoric populations saw in its active stage, thousand millions years ago. The cascade, 60m high, spurts out from a lava flow. From the village of Burzet , buses will take you to within a pleasant 45-minute walk of the water fall.

Vals-les-Bains
Features 145 cold water springs (13°C), bicarbonate and sodic; some of these springs have been used since 1600 AD. The thermal establishment is open year-round and offers "cures" using mainly waters whose evocative names are la Camuse, la Constantine and la Rigolette.

Abbey church Sainte Marie de Cruas
Romanesque church dating to the 11th and 12th centuries whose crypt hosts a "fabulous bestiary". Classed as an historic monument by Prosper Mérimée in 1847, the Abbey displays a unique and monastic loft whose capitals feature finely carved sculptures. In the apse, a mosaic commemorates the visit of Pope Urbain II in 1095. Open from 1st April to 1st October : Monday to Saturday (10am to 6.30pm ) Sunday and bank holidays (3pm to 7pm). Closed on 1st May. Guided visits at 11am, 3pm, 5pm week days and 3.30pm and 5.30pm Sunday and bank holidays.

Aubenas Art and History city
Chateau, dating to the 12th and 15th centuries; then an elegant residence in the 17th and 18th centuries; today it has been furnished in the style of the 18th century and is home to the portraits of the former lords of Aubenas, a collection of sculptures by Marcel Gimond and engravings by Jean Chieze. Access to the rooftop with stunning panoramic views.

The Chestnut Route
A gourmet route makes its way through the region of the Boutières. It goes by La Maison du Chataîgnier and then continues from farmhouse to farmhouse .

Mirabel Tower
The commune of Mirabel is a former Huguenot fortified village that used to host two castles built atop a basaltic spur in the Coiron Range. One of these castles belonged to the protestant family Arlemp de Mirabel and the other to the Laroches, a catholic family. The Religious Wars took their toll on the two buildings and, today, there is only a black stone tower left. It has become a favourite walk as it offers stunning views over the village below. Also to visit at Mirabel is the Domain of Pradel. It is home to an agricultural area and an agriculture school. In the past, it was the residence of Olivier de Serres, a pioneer in agronomics. |

The Ibie Valley
From Vallon Pont d'Arc to the hamlet of Les Salelles, whose houses are linked together by amazing passages, The river Ibie has winded its way through the Plateau des Gras. Between woods and pastureland, the wild course of this tributary of the Ardèche river is dotted with natural curiosities including Arch Ranc de l'Arc, Rocher de la Vieille, Rocher du Trou de la Lune...

Paleontology discovery in La Voulte
Exhibition display (over 2 floors) of more than a thousand exceptional fossils, all authentic. They are marine fossils dating to the Jurassic period; naturally mummified animals and plants more than 8 million years old which were discovered in the diatomite of the Coiron Range. Fossils from all over the world bearing witness to the evolution of life.

The Ardèche's orchard
The Eyrieux Valley is the realm of peach trees. The pink blossoms burst out in the Spring and offer a bewitching sight. In the Summer, in the countryside, the air is fragrant with the scent of their ripening fruit. The Eyrieux Valley is a wild and untamed area which offers visitors a wide range of sporting activities ( hiking, pony trekking). It is also an obvious place to practice kayaking at a professional level, being host to internationally acclaimed competitions

The Escrinet pass and panorama
At 787m of altitude, between Aubenas and Privas, the Escrinet pass allows the crossing of the Coiron Range. The pass offers stunning views over the Ardèche Valley; the Ardéchois Plateau to the West and the Rhône Valley to the East. It is also one of the most exceptional places to go migratory-bird watching. On top of the pass, discover the wrought iron sculpture "La Chèvre et l'Enfant". This work of art was realised by a former goat-cheese maker who is now an artist

Pranles, the protestant city
At the heart of the Boutières, the Pranles hamlets rise in tiers in a wooded countryside dotted with former mills, powered by the Boyon and Auzène rivers. Among these mills, the most famous is Moulin de Mandy which is situated near the church. The Vivarais Protestant Museum at Bouschet de Pranles is hosted in the native house of Pierre and Marie Durand, famous defenders of the Reformed Church. The museum bears witness to the presence of Huguenots in Vivarais and to the stark determination of the inhabitants in their fight against the Royal Oppression

Antique remains at Alba-la-Romaine
The archeological site is the property of the State and of the Ardèche Department. The visit includes the Roman amphitheatre, the vast Forum featuring its "area sacra", its temple, public buildings , the "cardo maximus" originally bordered by stalls, as well as the Imperial Sanctuary. Guided visits : groups all-year-round (with prior arrangement) . For individual visitors from May to September and July/August: 2 visits per day. School parties/children: activities are organised for groups all year-round with prior arrangement. |
