The “Ardéchoise”: a famed cycle race

It first started in 1988, but it took some time before the race was referred to as the “Ardéchoise” in 1992. Today the “Ardéchoise” is the reference cycle race. Every year more and more amateurs and enthusiasts participate in this event. Actually, every year, there are about 15,000 participants. The “Ardéchoise” is a 2 or 4 day cycle race which, along its 500km, weaves its course across the region. A real trip that takes you along beautiful country roads that thread their way through vales and dales, from verdant hills to dormant volcanoes.

The “Ardéchoise” has become the emblem of our region. It is not only a cycle race, it is also the occasion for a whole region to join in an exceptional event, to encourage the locals to live to the rhythm of the cyclists.

The “Ardéchoise” is the “rendez-vous” for cyclist enthusiasts who come to the region, in June, to live up to their passion for the Ardèche and cycling.

The organisation is no simple task but it meets the requirements of the event since 3,000 people volunteer to organise, help and guarantee the safety of the race by sign posting the itinerary.

To participate in the “Ardéchoise” it is necessary to plan the event in advance. Not only you must be physically fit to participate but you must also take into account the logistical support since accommodation and hotels are stormed by participants.
