Regional Natural Park

The Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park is a diverse mix of natural culture – landscapes, traditional rural skills, volcanic terrain, rivers, blueberry and chestnut cultivation, religious history, mills and water-mills, farmed terraces etc.

Taking in the Boutières region, the volcanic hills of the Mézenc massif, the Vernoux plateau, Haute Cévenne and southern Cévenne, the park is made up of a varied terrain.

Stretching over 180,000 hectares with around 62,000 inhabitants, it contains 132 villages and six gateway towns.

The park’s charter is to protect the heritage of the area through careful management of the park’s natural habitats and landscapes, and in doing so to contribute to the social, economic and cultural development and quality of life in Ardèche.

The park is also responsible for welcoming and educating the general public, as well as running trials and taking part in research projects.
